How AC Uses May Lead to Sick Building Syndrome: We have often heard about the disadvantages of staying in an air-conditioned room, but now famous neurosurgeon Dr. Payoz Pandey has warned about another problem. According to him, sitting continuously in an AC room or office can cause health problems related to Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). This syndrome increases symptoms like dryness and irritation of the eyes, throat, and skin, which often increase due to staying in the dry air of AC for a long time.

AC air is not good for health.

Indoor air quality in an air-conditioned environment can aggravate respiratory problems, especially for people with allergies or asthma. Although AC use does not directly harm specific organs such as the eyes or heart, it can significantly impact overall comfort and worsen existing health conditions.

How to reduce the risk of SBS?

1. Many measures can be taken to reduce the risks associated with 'sick building syndrome'. First of all, it is important to maintain proper humidity in the indoor space as the dry air of AC can cause discomfort which is harmful to health. Regular cleaning of AC filters is also necessary so that dust and fungus do not accumulate and that the air quality is not adversely affected.

2. To reduce the risk of SBS, you have to pay attention to natural ventilation. When the outside temperature becomes normal, open the windows and skylights of the room. Ensure cross ventilation in the house.

3. To keep the air in the room clean, some indoor plants can be planted in pots. These plants work as natural air purifiers because they absorb carbon dioxide and start releasing oxygen. That means the air quality of the room improves.

4. Apart from this, to prevent 'sick building syndrome', you can use air purifiers available in the market which have HEPA filters. These remove the particles and allergens present in the air and can reduce the risk of SBS.

5. Staying hydrated is also an important measure. If you keep drinking the right amount of water throughout the day, it will maintain moisture in the mucus membranes, so that the eyes, throat, and skin will not have to face dryness.
