Health Update: 1.4 crore rupees in exchange for feces?

If you think that strange things happen only in movies, then perhaps you are wrong. After listening to what we are going to tell you, you will probably think that this is a joke, but it is not so. An American company 'Human Microbes' is claiming that your feces can save someone's life and in return, they are ready to pay you a huge amount.

In the company's promotional video, a woman is saying that if you are young, healthy, and physically fit, then her company wants to donate stool from you. It is also told in the video that for one stool sample, she can give you 500 dollars (about 41 thousand rupees) and if you are ready to donate stool daily, then she can give you up to 180,000 dollars (about 1.4 crore rupees) annually.

How will your stool save your life?

The company believes that a mixture of bacteria found in the stool of a healthy person can be beneficial for sick people, especially those suffering from serious intestinal diseases. This process is called fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), in which a processed sample of stool from a healthy person is inserted into the intestines of a sick person. The company claims that this can not only cure intestinal diseases but can also provide benefits for serious mental health problems.

Who can donate?

The company is currently accepting feces donations mostly from people in the US and Canada. But, their website states that if you live anywhere in the world and can send them your feces with dry ice, you can also become a donor.

About the Company

Human Microbes was founded in 2020 by Michael Harrop. The company's target is to develop new medicines through the study of bacteria obtained from feces.

Is this true?

FMT is a new but rapidly growing field. However, there is not enough research yet to prove that it can treat all types of intestinal diseases or mental health problems.
