Indians are genetically more likely to develop non-communicable diseases like heart disease and diabetes at least a decade earlier than others due to an inactive lifestyle. Lack of physical activity means you are increasing your existing risk factors.

Ways to avoid the disease

You don't need to go to the gym or exercise for hours. Use the stairs, and skip the elevator. Walk to the bus stop or ride a bicycle. These small changes are also beneficial. Choose activities you like doing such as dance classes, or swimming for exercise. If you have been away from exercise for a long time or have any health problems, then consult your doctor before starting any new exercise.
