On October 4, the Union Cabinet approved giving a subsidy of Rs 100 to 9.5 crore beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Earlier in the month of September, the Central Government had approved to give a subsidy of Rs 200 on the price of LPG gas cylinders to the common people of the country. At present, beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme have to pay Rs 603 for a cylinder. Whereas common people in Delhi will have to pay Rs 903. Prices vary from city to city.

Scheme for the poor
The central government had started this scheme for poor people. While launching this scheme, the Central Government claimed that this scheme had been started to get rid of wood burning, wood cutting, and smoke. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched in 2016.
