Eye specialist Dr Mandeep Basu: Along with the heat, gadgets also cause harm to our eyes. Due to this, there may be headaches, a burning sensation in the eyes or problems of drainage of water. But Ayurveda can also be very beneficial to avoid eye-related problems during the summer season.

Pitta dosha

Dr Mandeep Basu says that according to Ayurveda, eyes are related to Pitta Dosha. It controls digestive fire and metabolism. When the balance of bile in the body deteriorates, many eye problems start occurring. Let us tell you some tips from Ayurveda, which will keep the eyes healthy.

Splash water

Start your day by splashing cold water in your eyes. Due to this, the accumulated debris gets cleared and the glands responsible for the lubrication of the eyes become active.

Apply cold compress

Do not use chemical makeup products near your eyes. Instead, you can opt for Ayurvedic Kajal or medicated eyeliner.

Exposure to bright sunlight

Exposure to strong sunlight can also cause eye problems. The UV rays of the sun also pose a risk of causing allergy or infection in the eyes. In such a situation, go out only wearing sunglasses.

Rose Water and Cucumber

To soothe and clean the eyes, apply cotton pads soaked in rose water on your eyes for 10 minutes daily, which reduces the chances of dark circles. Apart from this, cucumber pieces also provide coolness to the eyes.

Keep yourself hydrated

To keep your eyes healthy, it is important to keep yourself hydrated. You should drink enough water throughout the day. Also consume juicy fruits, herbal tea and juice. This will remove the dryness of the eyes.

Avoidance of chlorinated water

Chlorine (found in swimming pools) can also harm the eyes during summer. Therefore, it is advisable to wear swimming goggles to protect your eyes from swelling, irritation and itching caused by exposure to chlorine.

Healthy diet

Apart from this, our diet also has a great impact on the eyes. Include fruits and vegetables in the diet. Fruits and vegetables contain chemicals like lutein and zeaxanthin. The antioxidants present in them can protect against eye diseases like cataracts and macular degeneration.
