EPFO Update: How to find and activate your UAN number? See step-by-step process...

Generally, all the employed people deposit money every month in the Employees Provident Fund i.e. EPF. This amount is automatically deposited in EPF as a contribution from the salary. If you are also a salaried person and a fixed amount is deducted from your salary every month for the Provident Fund, then you are also a member contributing to EPF.

Every member of EPF like you is allotted a 12-digit number called Universal Account Number (UAN). The work of creating and then distributing UAN is done by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). After being issued by the EPFO, the Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Government of India certifies the UAN. If you do not know about your UAN till now, then here we are going to give you complete information about getting your UAN and activating it.

What is the benefit of UAN?
The operations of the Employees Provident Fund have been completely digitized. Therefore, all the information and services related to EPF are now being provided online. The full benefit of these online services can be availed only when your UAN is active and you know about it properly.

Using UAN, employees can easily complete all their EPF-related tasks online in less time. This includes all important tasks like withdrawing money from an EPF account, transferring EPF from one account to another, obtaining an EPF account statement, obtaining an EPF account passbook, and taking a loan against the amount deposited in EPF.

How to find your Universal Account Number?
All EPF member employees can use two methods to find their Universal Account Number:

1. Through the employer: Employees can find out their UAN by asking their employer. Sometimes your UAN is also given on your salary slip.

2. By visiting the UAN portal: If your Universal Account Number is not given on your salary slip or you are unable to get UAN from your employer for any reason, then you can also get it by directly visiting the UAN portal. Employees have to follow the process given below to get UAN by visiting the portal:-

Step 1: First of all you have to go to the UAN portal (https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/).

Step 2: After this, you have to click on 'Know Your UAN Status'. You will find it written on the top right of the page.

Step 3: On the next page you have to fill in all the required details like your state and EPFO ​​office, name, date of birth, and captcha.

Step 4: After entering all the details mentioned above, click on 'Get Authorization Pin'.

Step 5: You will get the PIN on your registered mobile number.

Step 6: After filling this pin in the given place, click on 'Validate OTP and get UAN'.

Step 7: You will receive UAN on your registered mobile number.

Activate UAN like this
To take full advantage of the EPFO ​​​​portal, after getting your Universal Account Number, you will also have to activate it. For this, you have to complete the process given below:

Step 1: First of all you have to go to the EPFO ​​​​portal (https://www.epfindia.gov.in/site_en/).

Step 2: On the home page, under the 'Our Services' tab, you will find 'For Employees' written, click on it.

Step 3: On the next page, under the 'Services' section, you will find 'Member UAN/Online Services (OCS/OTCP)' written. Click on it.

Step 4: After this, click on 'Activate UAN' on the next page.

Step 5: A form will open on the next page, in which you will have to enter your UAN, name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, and captcha.

Step 6: After filling in all the details in the form mentioned above, click on 'Get Authorization Pin' given below.

Step 7: After this, you will get an OTP on your registered mobile number.

Step 8: After this, you will have to fill in some of your details again in the next box.

Step 9: After ticking the disclaimer box given there and filling the OTP in the given place, click on 'Validate OTP and Activate UAN'.

Step 10: After this, you will get the UAN and password on your registered mobile number. You will have to use them to log in to the EPFO ​​​​portal. Through this you will be able to easily take advantage of all online services.
