According to the new amendment, new electricity connections will now be available in metro cities in three days instead of seven. Similarly, in municipal corporation areas also the waiting time has been reduced from 15 days to 7 days.

In rural areas where one had to wait for a new connection, the waiting period has now been reduced to 15 days.

There are different charges for electricity connection in every state. For example, in Uttar Pradesh, the fee is Rs 10 for BPL (below poverty line) cardholders and Rs 100 for others.
