Preparations for the Lok Sabha elections are in full swing and the election dates are expected to be announced by the Election Commission in the coming days.

With the announcement of election dates, the Model Code of Conduct comes into force across the country, restricting various activities. After the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, many new initiatives are stopped, and new funds are not allocated.

However, some government schemes are running despite the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, ensuring that people continue to benefit from them.

Schemes like the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGA), Ayushman Bharat Yojana, and free ration distribution remain intact, as they were already running.

Housing-related projects which have been approved and are already underway have not been stopped. However, no new beneficiaries are approved until after the elections.

All identified beneficiaries for various projects, where the names were finalized before the Model Code of Conduct came into force, continue to receive benefits.

What is noteworthy is that these policies and schemes, which are already operational or whose beneficiaries are pre-approved, continue to provide benefits even during the election period. On the other hand, the launch of new projects and approval of new beneficiaries have been temporarily put on hold till after the election season.
