Some people are confused about how many days before voting they can apply for a voter ID card. For information, let us tell you that you can get a voter identity card through the election nomination process till 10 days before voting. The nomination process for the Lok Sabha elections is till the 6th of May, so you can apply for a Voter ID card till the 26th of April.

According to the information provided by the Election Commission's helpline number 1950, applications submitted within 27 days are accepted and the voter card is issued within 10 days.

How to Apply:

You can apply for a Voter ID card through both offline and online modes. To apply online you have to visit www.nvsp.in. For this you will have to submit two types of documents: first, a birth certificate, and second, any proof of permanent address. As birth proof, you can provide documents like a PAN card, 10th class certificate, driver's license, passport, etc. Similarly, as proof of address, one can provide documents like an Aadhar Card, Electricity Bill, Farmer's Passbook, Postal Passbook, etc.
