Eating too many spices in winter is dangerous for health, know what the expert said
Spices are one of the most important things in our kitchen. Most of the spices used in our kitchen have a hot nature. The use of these spices, which are full of medicinal properties, increases in winters. Whole spices like cinnamon, cloves, black pepper and cardamom keep the body warm as well as boost immunity. This protects the body from cold and cough.
But Dr. Arvind Agarwal (Senior Consultant, Internal Medicine) of Shri Balaji Action Medical Institute, Delhi says that black pepper, cinnamon, cloves and bay leaves are used in winters to keep the body warm and to enhance the taste of food. But excessive use of whole spices can also be harmful. Let us know from the experts what bad effects these spices can have on the body.
Stomach problems
Dr. Arvind Agarwal says that eating too many whole spices can cause stomach irritation, gas and acidity. Also, they can affect the digestion process. Eating them in excess will slow down the metabolism, due to which the food will be digested late.
Burning sensation in the throat
Eating too much spices like black pepper and red chilli can cause irritation and swelling in the throat. Apart from this, mouth ulcers can also occur. Eating too much cinnamon and cloves can be dangerous for people with high blood pressure. These spices increase blood circulation, which can make the problem serious.
Allergies may also occur
Eating too many spices can cause skin allergies, itching, rashes or other problems. They increase heat in the body, which can increase skin problems. Apart from this, adding too many spices to the diet puts pressure on the liver and kidneys. In such a situation, use whole spices in limited quantities.
Keep these things in mind
Even in the winter season, try to avoid eating too much spicy food. Eat as many fruits, vegetables and fiber-rich things as possible. Keep your body hydrated. Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water regularly. Along with this, definitely include exercise in your lifestyle routine. This keeps your digestion better and does not cause physical problems.
