Despite being expensive, record-breaking sales of gold on Dhanteras, gold worth thousands of crores sold!

At the time of shopping, the mention of inflation often revolves around recession in the market. However, the shopping figures on the occasion of Dhanteras are telling something else. The record-breaking shopping on Dhanteras has left last year's record behind. On the occasion of Dhanteras, there is tremendous activity in the markets across the country. According to the All India Jewelers and Goldsmiths Federation, people across the country have purchased gold or jewellery worth about Rs 27,000 crore.
Gold and silver worth about Rs 30,000 crores sold
Pankaj Arora, national president of All India Jewelers and Goldsmiths Federation, said that on Dhanteras, business transactions of gold, silver and other precious items worth about Rs 30,000 crore took place. The sales figure of gold and gold jewellery stood at Rs 27,000 crore and the sale of silver or articles made from it stood at around Rs 3,000 crore. Last year in 2022, the gold and silver business of Dhanteras was worth Rs 25,000 crore.

41 tons of gold sold
In 2022, the price of gold was Rs 52,000 per 10 grams, whereas this year it is available at Rs 62,000 per 10 grams. Last Diwali, silver was sold at the rate of Rs 58,000 per kg, which is now Rs 72,000 per kg this year. According to an estimate, today on Dhanteras, about 41 tonnes of gold and about 400 tonnes of silver jewellery and coins have been sold across the country.

Hustle and bustle in the markets
Praveen Khandelwal mentioned that in Delhi, where there are big traders in wholesale markets including Chandni Chowk, Dariba Kalan, Maliwada, Sadar Bazaar and Naya Bazaar, there are big expectations. Whereas the retail markets are Kamla Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Model Town, Shalimar Bagh, Pitampura, Rohini, Rajouri Garden, Dwarka, Janakpuri, South Extension, Khan Market, Malviya Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Greater Kailash, Green Park, Yusuf Sarai, Vasant Kunj, There was a special sale of goods in various retail markets including Munirka, Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji, Preet Vihar, Laxmi Nagar, Jagatpuri, Shahdara and Laxmi Nagar.
