Nowadays people have very busy schedules, due to which they are not able to take proper care of themselves. Due to doing sitting jobs all day, symptoms of many diseases start appearing in most people at a very young age. Meanwhile, many people say that they do not have time to go to the gym or do any kind of exercise. But if you are told that by dancing for just 20 minutes, you can keep yourself fit and also burn calories, will you believe this?

Most people will answer no to this question, but according to a study, if people dance to their favorite song for just 20 minutes while working in the kitchen, then positive changes are seen in their health. The current guidelines of England's National Health Service advise people to do medium to high intensity exercises for 150 minutes in a week. These are the exercises that people do by going to the gym, jogging or swimming. But a study has come out, which states that dancing is equally effective.

What does the study say?

To complete this study, scientists from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts included 48 people aged 18 to 83. Scientists asked these people to dance for 5 minutes daily. During this time, oxygen intake and heart rate were measured to measure the intensity of the exercise and the data showed that all the people participating in this study reached at least medium physical activity level. Let us tell you that this study was led by Dr. Ashton McCullough.

He said at the American Association for the Advancement of Science Conference, "The purpose of this study was to understand whether people can achieve the same intensity by dancing freely as they achieve from other physical activities." He continued that after doing this study, the answer was yes. Dr. Ashton McCullough said that all the people involved in the study were able to reach the level of activity, even though they were not told at what intensity they have to dance.

In this case, Professor Dr Azim Jain of the Cardiology Department at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital said that dancing for just 20 minutes is equal to our cardio activity. He said that these are the activities that protect us from diabetes, heart disease and many serious diseases. Continuing his talk, Dr Jain said that this is not weight training because dance is also a kind of physical activity, which if done for some time daily, is a kind of half an hour workout.
