Chaitra Navratri will begin on March 22, a nine-day long festival celebrated by devotees of Maa Durga. Navratri is celebrated four times a year in different months. These four Navratri are called - Sharadiya Navratri, Chaitra Navratri, Magha Gupta Navratri, and Ashadh Gupta Navratri.
Chaitra Navratri is usually celebrated during the Shukla Paksha of Chaitra and falls in the month of March or April. The nine-day festival will conclude on March 30 with Ram Navami.
Chaitra Navratri 2023: Foods that may or may not be eaten
During the fast, devotees keep fast and eat only satvik food. Food items like garlic, wheat flour, rice, brinjal, and mushrooms are avoided during the fast. Food items like Samvat rice, Buckwheat flour, Rajgira, Sabudana, Water chestnut flour, Potato, Sweet potato, Bottle gourd, Arbi, Spinach, Pumpkin, Gourd, Carrot and Cucumber are some of the foods allowed during fasting.
