Often women become careless about back pain and assume it to be fatigue or muscle strain. But do you know that this pain can also be a sign of a serious disease? Recently, the same thing happened with a woman. This woman was thinking that her back pain was due to tight hips. But when she got herself examined, the ground slipped under her feet. It was ovarian cancer.

Alex McGillivray, 26, from Wrexham (Wales), initially thought her back pain was due to her tight hips, but later discovered she was suffering from ovarian cancer. Alex started doing yoga to relieve the pain, but she did not know that her condition was gradually getting worse.

Grape-sized tumors

In January, Alex introduced yoga into her daily routine to help relieve her back pain. But by June, the pain got worse and she also started experiencing bloating and constipation. Her abdomen was so swollen that she looked like she was pregnant. As the pain and discomfort worsened, Alex visited a doctor, where she first suspected appendicitis. But a thorough examination revealed that Alex had two large tumors on her ovaries – one measuring 12 cm and the other 8 cm, which were the size of grapes.

Rare ovarian cancer

Alex was diagnosed with a rare type of ovarian cancer called a 'warm cell tumor'. These tumors arise from the cells that develop in the ovaries that produce human eggs. This cancer is mostly found in women under the age of 30 and is difficult to detect early because its symptoms are associated with other common problems such as digestion. Alex said that I always knew that my hips were tight, so I assumed that it was the cause of back pain. But in June, when the problem of bloating and constipation increased, I started to think that something was serious.

Doctor's examination revealed that

after CT scan and ultrasound, Alex's examination revealed that he had two large tumors in his ovaries. These tumors were extremely rare and dangerous, due to which he needed immediate treatment. The doctors advised him to undergo chemotherapy so that the cancer could be eradicated from its roots and his ovaries could be saved. Alex said that I am lucky that the doctors detected it on time. They did not just give me a laxative and send me home, but did a complete examination. This was a big shock, but now the treatment has started and it is hoped that chemotherapy will completely cure the cancer.

Chemotherapy and hope

Alex is now undergoing cancer treatment through chemotherapy, and doctors hope to save her ovaries and fertility. Despite this serious condition, Alex has maintained a positive attitude. Before starting chemotherapy, she shaved her head and donated 14 inches of hair to the 'Little Princess Trust', which makes wigs for children battling cancer. Alex has appealed to people about her condition that if anyone notices abdominal swelling, constipation or any other unusual symptoms, do not ignore it and consult a doctor immediately.
