The claim is available only for serious medical cases

EPFO provides an advanced medical claim facility for employees undergoing serious medical treatment or medical conditions. EPFO has clarified that this facility can be availed only during serious life-threatening illnesses.

This is applicable only if the employee or his/her spouse is admitted to a government public sector CGHS panel hospital. If the patient is admitted to a private hospital, the medical claim can be processed only after verification.

Withdrawal up to ₹1,00,000

In case of a medical emergency, you can withdraw up to ₹1,00,000 from the EPFO account. If you apply during working hours, the money will be credited to your account the next day. You can also transfer this amount directly to the hospital account. You must submit a medical slip within 45 days of the patient being discharged from the hospital. After that, your final bill will be settled with the advance amount.
