Does loss of sexual interest indicate approaching death?
The title of this report was - 'Reduction in sexual interest and its relation to mortality'. People between the ages of 40 and 70 were included in the study. The health of these people living in seven cities was monitored for a long time. Their annual medical checkups were done. The people included in the survey were asked whether they had any interest in the opposite sex or not. In this study, everyone's medical history, family conditions, use of medicines, how often they laughed and everyone's mental stress level records were studied in detail.
Researchers studied the relationship between their sex life and daily routine and their risk of death. They found that out of 20 thousand people, about 7700 men and 11500 women were not interested in having sexual relations with the opposite sex. During the follow-up study that lasted for about 10 years, 503 people died. Of these, 356 were men and 147 were women.
How much is the risk of death if you do not have sex?
Based on these reports, it has been claimed that women who have less sex have a 70% higher risk of death, according to this, men should also know how much risk they face to their lives by not having sex. Analysis of the data showed that 9.6 percent of men who said that they had no interest in the opposite sex died during the nine years. On the other hand, the mortality rate among men who said that they still have sexual interest in women was only 5.6 percent.
The researchers concluded that this difference represented a significantly higher risk of death even when other factors, such as age and chronic diseases, were ignored.
The team members said the data for women showed no link between their sexual orientation and risk of death.
Sakurada said, living with and constantly interacting with people of the opposite sex, i.e. men and women, can help you stay mentally healthy and find a reason to live. Communicating with people of the opposite sex, no matter what your age is, can help you live longer.
