Big changes in UP Board, now examination of 7 subjects can be held in 10th!

There is going to be an important change in the high school examinations conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Board. Students may have to appear for 7 subjects instead of 6 subjects. Currently, the board exam consists of 6 subjects, out of which 5 are compulsory. Discussions are underway for this change and after finalizing the amendments, the proposal will be sent to the government for approval. These changes will be implemented once approved.

Changes are being considered in the academic framework of high school education as per the National Education Policy 2020 and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023 starting from Class 9. How will the examinations be conducted in the new format?

In the new curriculum, students will have to study three languages ​​compulsorily. Apart from Hindi and English, it is mandatory to choose any one language among Sanskrit, Urdu etc. The examination will be conducted separately for the three selected languages. Apart from this, there will be four other compulsory subjects – Mathematics and Computational Thinking, Science, Social Science and Environmental Education.

If the proposed amendments are approved, students will have to appear in 7 subjects, i.e. more than the existing 6 subjects. Additionally, they must take exams for three more additional subjects: Arts Education, Physical Education and Wellness, and Vocational Education. Arts education includes music, instrumental music, fine arts and performing arts. Physical education includes physical education and yoga, while vocational education includes choosing between mobile repairing, automobile, retail trade, etc. These subjects will be evaluated at the school level. However, examiners will have to be called from other schools.

Strict monitoring of board exams:

Preparations for UP Board's high school and intermediate exams are going on at a fast pace. It is expected that a close watch will be kept on the conduct of board examinations this year. Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council (UPMSP) Secretary Divyakant Shukla has issued instructions regarding the appointment of district school inspectors. The appointment of room invigilators during the examination will be based on the number of students. Rooms with 40 students will have two room invigilators, while rooms with 41 to 60 students will have three appointed invigilators. Also, before the commencement of the examination, only the room invigilator will fill the OMR sheets of the students.
