Why shouldn't fruits be eaten with other things?

Fruits are digested more quickly than any other food. Mixing it with any other food item can lead to the formation of toxins in the body, which is known as 'ama'. This is because eating certain things together can slow down the digestion process. The fruit has to remain in the stomach until the heaviest food is digested, making it difficult for the body to absorb nutrients. Apart from this, eating fruits with dairy products like milk and yogurt can lead to skin diseases like acne, psoriasis, and eczema.

Why should fruits never be cooked?

The color of the fruit is usually bright. The glowing color of the fruit represents the energy associated with fire. When eaten raw, the fruits help stimulate the digestive fire, enhance your digestive health and strengthen the stomach. Cooking destroys the digestive fire and healthy nutrients. There are no benefits of eating ripe fruits.

The right time to eat fruit

According to Ayurveda, the right time to eat fruits is in the morning. Eat fruits in the morning on an empty stomach. This is the time when your stomach can absorb the most nutrition from fruits.

At what time of the day can you eat fruits

You can also have it as a snack in between your meals to reduce your appetite. Eating fruit between meals can provide you with essential vitamins and minerals and help you avoid eating unhealthy snacks. It is right to eat fruits from 11 am to 4 pm.

Why should we eat fruits before sunset?

Eating fruits in the evening can lead to disturbances in sleep and digestion. Therefore, Ayurveda recommends eating the fruit before 4 pm or before sunset. Fruits are simple carbs which means they can be broken down quickly, raise blood sugar levels quickly and provide instant energy. Your sleep may be disrupted by rising blood sugar levels at bedtime. Also, after sunset, our metabolism slows down and the digestive system finds it difficult to digest carbs. That's why it is better to take carbs at least in the evening.
