Utility: Good news! The salary of Indian Railway field staff may increase between 2500 to 4000!

The government has approved the proposal to increase the salary of 80,000 railway employees. Railway Board Chairman VK Tripathi told ET Now that all eligible employees of the Indian Railways can expect a hike between Rs 2,500-4,000 after the notification is issued.

Tripathi said that there will be no additional financial burden as a result of the hike. He said that Indian Railways is reducing expenses through various activities; Which will allow the employees to increase without any additional financial burden.

The hike will enable employees facing stagnation in their jobs to get paid at par with Group A officers. The proposal, once notified, would make 80,000 supervisory-level employees eligible to get a higher pay grade.

Union Railways Minister Ahvini Vaishnav on Wednesday said that this provision will address the issue of stagnation of the supervisory cadre in Level-7 and negligible scope for their promotion.

The move is expected to benefit at least 40,000 'field level workers' such as station masters, ticket checkers, traffic inspectors, and others who are currently in the supervisor grade.

The minister said that the increase in the pay grade means that everyone will get an increment of Rs 2500 to Rs 4000.

Vaishnav further said that the move would cost Rs 10,000, but this has been accounted for as savings from spending on diesel.
