Trimbakeshwar Temple is located at a distance of about 28 km from Nashik. Regarding the construction of this grand temple, it is said that it was built by the third Peshwa Balaji Bajirao around (1740-1760) on the site of an old temple. It is said about this temple that it took many years to build this temple. Many people believe that a huge amount of money was spent on the construction of the temple.

The history of Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga is very interesting. It is said that many sages lived together here, but many of these sages were jealous of Gautam Rishi and kept trying to humiliate him. Once the sages accused Gautam Rishi of killing a cow and he said that you have to come here with Goddess Ganga to remove the sins. After this Gautam Rishi established Shivling at this place and started worshipping.

After penance, Lord Shiva appeared pleased with Mother Parvati. After this, he asked to send Ganga in boon, but the goddess said that if Shiva ji also stays at this place, then she will also stay here. After this Shivaji agreed to reside there in the form of Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga. 

Best time to visit Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga 

Although there is a crowd of devotees all the time, the best time of Trimbakeshwar Jyotirling is considered to be in Sawan, because worshipping and seeing Lord Shiva in Sawan is considered auspicious. Here you can go for darshan between 5 am to 8 pm. You can go to Mukut Darshan on Mondays between 4 pm to 5 pm.
