Toothache bothers anyone a lot. The toothache quickly moves to your jaw and then to your head. Sometimes it feels like your whole body is going through your toothache. Toothache is usually the result of irritation of the nerves present inside the tooth. Tooth decay or damage and gum disease are among the many conditions that can irritate these hyper-sensitive nerve endings. In some cases, pain caused by trauma to your jaw (eg, if your face is hit by something) can spread to your teeth and cause toothache.

When you feel that a toothache continues to bother you, the first thing you should do is to see your dentist. Untreated dental problems can easily turn into serious health conditions, especially if you have an infection.

Fortunately, there are many natural remedies for toothache that can provide relief even before you go to the dentist. Today we are telling you about one such home remedy which can provide you instant relief from toothache. Clove is present in all of our kitchens. Next time whenever you feel pain in your tooth in the middle of the night or feel pain at a time when you cannot go to the doctor in the teeth, then soak clove oil in cotton and keep it in the centre of the painful tooth. If you do not have clove oil in your kitchen, then you can also keep cloves up and down between the teeth.

Benefits of Cloves for toothache

Cloves have anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and allergic properties which provide instant relief from toothache. It is a common ingredient in Chinese and Indian folk medicine where it has been used for centuries as a treatment for all kinds of aches and pains. Cloves are known to be particularly effective for treating toothache.

Clove oil contains a substance called eugenol, which is a natural anaesthetic. It helps in reducing toothache. Eugenol also has natural anti-inflammatory properties. It can reduce swelling and irritation in the affected area.

Clove oil is known to promote circulation. When it is rubbed around a painful tooth, the blood vessels near the gum dilate, bringing the blood to the surface with a warm, soothing sensation.

A British study found that eugenol is more effective than other types of analgesics at reducing pain, inflammation and infectionStudy participants who used the eugenol-based paste also had better-wound healing than study participants who used other treatments or no treatment at all.

Like any natural remedy, it's always a good idea to talk to your doctor or dentist before using cloves. You must avoid using clove oil if you are pregnant.
