Sawan Shivratri is celebrated on Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha. It is also called the black phase of the month of Sawan.

Chaturdashi Tithi will start on 26th July at 6:46 PM and will continue till 9:11 PM on 27th July.

Nishita Kaal Puja will start from 12:15 pm and will continue till 1 pm on July 27.

Know the importance of Sawan Shivratri 2022

Devotees of Lord Shiva celebrate Shivaratri every month on Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi. Notably, there are a total of 12 Shivaratris in a year, yet some are significant for the devotees.

Here are the rituals to be performed during Sawan Shivratri 2022:

Visit Lord Shiva's temples and perform Jalabhishek of Shivling.

Take a bath early in the morning and worship Lord Shiva by chanting the mantra Om Namah Shivaya.

Chant the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra 108 times in the name of Lord Shiva.

Offer Rudrabhishek to Lord Shiva by offering milk, curd, ghee, honey, and Gangajal.

Avoid quarreling, fighting, and quarreling with anyone in this holy month. Many people avoid eating onions, garlic, radish, and brinjal.

Consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited.

Chant Shiva Chalisa and Shiva Aarti to please Lord Shiva.
