Rice - 1 cup

Milk - 1 liter

Cashew nuts - 10-12

Sugar - 1.5 cup

Almonds - 10-12

Cardamom crushed - 1 tsp

Pistachio shavings - 1 tsp

First, clean the rice. After this, soak them in water for about 1 hour and keep them. Meanwhile, finely chop the dry fruits. After 1 hour, take out the rice from the water and grind it coarsely with the help of a mixer. You can also use whole rice for kheer without grinding it.

Now take a big vessel, pour milk into it and keep it on the gas to heat. Let the milk heat up on medium heat only. When the milk starts to boil, add rice to it and let them cook. Keep stirring the milk and rice with the help of a big spoon in between so that the milk does not burn. Cook the kheer on low flame for about 15 minutes. When the rice is cooked well, add sugar and dry fruits as per taste and mix it and let the kheer cook for 5 minutes. Finally, mix cardamom powder and cook till the kheer becomes thick, and then turn off the gas. Kheer prasad for Shradh is ready.
