Recipe: Make Healthy Ghee Idli like this, click to know the recipe of Shahid Kapoor's favorite dish


Ghee Idli is a famous South Indian dish made from protein-rich pulses like moong dal, urad dal, masoor dal, and chana dal. This dish is delicious, easy to make, and light. Today we have brought its recipe for you.


cup regular rice or idli rice.

A quarter cup of urad dal,

a quarter cup of chana dal,

a quarter cup of toor dal,

one teaspoon of ghee,

two dry red chilies.

1-2 tsp oil for greasing.

One and a half teaspoon ginger, chopped

A pinch of asafoetida or hing.

1-2 green chilies.

Half teaspoon cumin.

teaspoon mustard seeds

One-third cup shallots, diced onion, chopped.

cup green coriander, chopped

9-10 curry leaves, chopped

One-fourth cup of fresh coconut grated

salt to taste

Two cups of water or as desired

Wash and soak all the dal and rice in about one and a half cups of water for at least two hours. The best way is to soak them overnight.

Don't forget to add red dry chilies to the rice and lentil mixture before soaking.

Once soaked, drain the water and put them in a blender.

Add about three-quarters cup of fresh water and blend to make a thick batter.

Take out the batter in a bowl.

Heat ghee in a pan and temper mustard seeds, cumin, and curry leaves.

Add asafoetida, green chilies, and ginger and fry till light brown.

Pour the ingredients into the bowl of batter and mix well.

Let it stand for about half an hour or an hour.

Once done, add coriander leaves and grated coconut.

Add salt as per taste.

Grease the idli mold with oil and pour the batter.

Steam for about 10 minutes.

Take out the idlis on a plate and serve hot with sambar or chutney.
