Russian Ambassador Sergey Andreev, who arrived in Poland to pay tribute to the Red Army soldiers who lost their lives in the Second World War, civilians threw ‘red paint’ on the soldiers.
Andreev, the Russian ambassador to Poland, had reached a cemetery in Warsaw to pay tribute to the soldiers. There was a gathering of protesters who were fed up with Russia’s military action against Ukraine. As soon as Andreev reached the graveyard, people rained red paint on him.
Andreev had arrived to pay floral tributes to soldiers of the then Soviet Union (USSR) at the cemetery, where a group of protesters protesting Russia’s war in Ukraine were waiting for him.

Protesters holding the Ukrainian flag prevented Andreev as well as other members of the Russian delegation from laying wreaths at the cemetery.
Some of the demonstrators were draped in white sheets with bloodstains in solidarity with the victims of Russia’s attack on Ukraine. They also raised ‘fascist’ and other slogans in front of Andreev.
Red paint was also thrown at other members of the Russian delegation, who reached the cemetery with Andreev.
The Polish police had to be called in to help the Russian ambassador and other members of his delegation get out of the cemetery safely.
