Ingredients to make Masala Chana Dal
Chana Dal – 1 cup
Onion finely chopped – 3/4 cup
Tomato pulp - 1 cup
Green chili chopped – 1-2
Green coriander - 2 tbsp
Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander-cumin powder – 1 tsp
Oil – 2 tsp
salt - as per taste
How to make Masala Chana Dal
To make masala chana dal, first of all, clean and wash chana dal two-three times and then keep it soaked in water for 3 hours. After this, finely chop onion, green chili, and green coriander leaves. Now put 2 teaspoons of oil in the pressure cooker and heat it on medium flame. After the oil is hot, add finely chopped onion and fry it for 2 minutes.
When the onion turns light pink, add tomato pulp, green chilies, and all the dry spices and mix and fry. After roasting for some time, add salt as per taste. Now add soaked chana dal to it, mix with the help of a ladle and fry for 1 minute. Now add one and a half cups of water (as required) in it and cover the lid of the cooker and cook till 2-3 whistles. After this turn off the gas.
Now let the pressure of the cooker release on its own. After this, open the lid of the cooker, add green coriander leaves and mix it. Flavorful masala chana dal is ready. It can be served with roti, paratha, or rice.
