Well, let us tell you that aloe vera has thick and fleshy leaves, which have thorny structures around the edges. Aloin is a natural chemical found in the skin of the aloe vera leaf and should be removed before making its juice as it is very bitter and has laxative properties. If consumed in excess in some people, aloin may also be responsible for stomach cramps or diarrhoea. Therefore, it would be better to get rid of aloe vera pulp before using it and avoid the consumption of aloin.

  • Pat it dry with a tissue or clean cloth, and then you can use a vegetable peeler or knife to remove tooth-like structures from the sides of the leaf.
  • Then using a peeler or a knife, peel off the outer rind of the leaf and scrape off the gel using a spoon.
