A patient suffering from diabetes should only take between 45 to 60 grams of carbohydrates in a day. For this reason, patients are advised to eat rice which is low in carbohydrates and glycemic index.

Starch is less in this rice. For this, cooked rice is a better option. Very low GI is also found in basmati, brown, and wild rice.
