Ingredients for making Banarasi Tomato Chaat-

Tomatoes - 5-6

Potatoes - 4 boiled

Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp

Cumin Powder - 1 tsp

Tamarind - 1 tbsp (paste)

Ghee - 3 tbsp

Poppy seeds - 2 tsp

Ginger - 2 tsp (grated)

Cashew nuts - 10 (grated)

Green chili - 3 (finely chopped)

Chaat masala - 2 tsp

Garam Masala - 1 tsp

Turmeric - 1 tsp

Red chili powder - 1 tsp

Sugar - 4 tbsp

Onion - 1 finely chopped

Green coriander - 1/2 cup

Black salt - 1 tsp

plain salt - to taste

Method of making Banarasi Tomato Chaat -

First of all, finely chop the tomatoes. Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan, add ginger, green chilies, poppy seeds, and cashews, and fry for 2 minutes. After which now add turmeric, red chili, and a little cumin powder, and immediately after that add chopped tomatoes. Add salt to the tomatoes, cover them, and let them cook. When the tomatoes start to melt, add one and a half cups of water to it and let it cook till the water and tomatoes mix together.

Mash the boiled potatoes and put them in the tomato mixture. When tomatoes and potatoes are mixed well, then add garam masala, chaat masala, cumin powder, black-plain salt, and tamarind paste.

 Now put 3 cups of water in a vessel and add sugar and let the sauce be ready. When the sugar syrup is ready, put half a teaspoon of cumin powder in it and keep it on the gas. Put hot tomato chaat in the vessel in which the chaat is to be served. Pour ghee on top. Add as much sugar syrup as you want to the chaat. Finally, garnish with onion and coriander leaves. By the way, if you want, you can also add sea salt on top. Take tomato chaat is ready.
