Different pictures and health warnings will be seen on tobacco packs from December 1, know here!
The Union ministry on Friday said tobacco products manufactured, imported, or packaged on or after December 1, 2022, will have a new image with a health warning "Tobacco causes a painful death." The image will be valid for one year after its installation on 1st December.
Also, tobacco products manufactured, imported, or packaged on or after December 1, 2023, will display an image with the health warning "Tobacco Users Die Younger" as per the new health warnings notified by the ministry.
The Ministry has notified new health warnings through an amendment to the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Rules, 2008 dated 21 July 2022. The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Rules, 2022, amended under the Third Amendment Rules, shall come into force with effect from December 1, 2022.

The ministry said in a statement that any person directly or indirectly involved in the manufacture, production, supply, import, or distribution of cigarettes or any tobacco products shall ensure that all tobacco product packages contain the specified health warnings exactly as prescribed.
The government said violation of the guidelines is a punishable offense, with imprisonment or fine as prescribed in section 20 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertising and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply, and Distribution) Act, 2003.
