Ingredients for making Dhekia Bhaji
-Fiddlehead Fern (Bhaji) chopped – 1 bowl
-Onion chopped - 1
-Soaked Chana - 1/2 cup
-Green chili - 1
-Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tsp
-Cumin - 1 tsp
-Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
-Lemon - 2 tsp
-Oil - 2 tbsp
-Salt - as per taste


How to make Dhekia Bhaji

  • To make the famous Dhekia Bhaji of Assam, first of all take the bhaji and cut it into pieces.
  • After this soak the chickpeas till they swell. After this, put oil in a pan and heat it on medium flame.
  • When the oil becomes hot, add cumin seeds and finely chopped green chilies and fry for some time.
  • After this add ginger-garlic paste, finely chopped onion and fry this mixture till the onions become soft and golden brown.
  • When the color of the onion starts turning golden, add soaked gram and mix it well with the spices with the help of a spoon.
