crumbled 5 slices of bread

1/3 cup onion (chopped)

1-inch piece of ginger (finely chopped)

2 green chilies (chopped)


2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)

few curry leaves

1/4-1/4 tsp asafoetida

Black pepper powder and cumin

half tsp turmeric powder

1/4 cup fresh curd

3 tbsp rice flour

2 tbsp semolina

salt to taste

oil for frying


Mix all the ingredients well except the oil for frying.

Take medium-sized balls and flatten them.

Make a hole in the middle of the vada with your finger and fry in hot oil on low flame till it becomes golden.

Serve with coconut chutney.
