IPL 2023: Akash Madhwal created history in IPL, and became the first bowler to achieve this feat

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs in the Eliminator match of IPL 2023 based on the deadly bowling of Akash Madhwal (five wickets for five runs). Akash Madhwal took five wickets in the match for just 5 runs in a spell of 3.3 overs. With this, a record of IPL has been registered in his name.

Akash Madhwal has become the first bowler to take five wickets in an eliminator match. He broke the record of former Chennai Super Kings fast bowler Doug Bollinger in this match. In 2010, Doug Bollinger took 4 wickets for 13 runs against Deccan Chargers.

In the match played on Wednesday, Mumbai Indians, captained by Rohit Sharma, scored 182 runs after losing eight wickets in the first play. In reply, the Lucknow team was bundled out for only 101 runs in 16.3 overs.
