Hopes of ending the Russia-Ukraine war now seem to be linked to India. After becoming the US President, Donald Trump has promised to stop the war and for this, he wants to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin as soon as possible. Russian President Putin has also expressed his desire for this meeting. But the question arises, where will this historic meeting take place?

India could be the most suitable option.

According to sources, the Kremlin is preparing a list of countries where this meeting can be held. Meanwhile, India's name has emerged as the most suitable option. Many people associated with the Kremlin believe that this meeting can be successful on Indian soil.

India has adopted a fair and independent stance during the Russia-Ukraine war. Which has been appreciated internationally. Along with this, President Putin's visit to India is also proposed in 2025. On the other hand, Donald Trump has also visited India during his tenure.

India is a member of the Quad and in 2025 India is going to chair the QUAD conference. In which the President of America is to come. This year the Presidents of both Russia and America will come to India. Apart from this, India's position and diplomatic role make it an ideal platform where hopes of peace can arise.

Slovakia was also in the race

On December 23, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, while visiting Russia, invited President Putin to meet him in his country. However, sources close to the Kremlin say that Russia is looking for a friendly country where this meeting can take place comfortably.

Putin stresses on friendly countries

Russian President Putin has visited only those countries after the war which are considered friends of Russia. These include China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Belarus, Kazakhstan and North Korea. Putin also cancelled his visit to South Africa after the arrest warrant issued by the ICC.

Why not Europe?

The US and Russian presidents have often met in Europe. In 2021, President Joe Biden and Putin met in Geneva, Switzerland. But under the current circumstances, Donald Trump is avoiding visiting some European countries.

Will India become a platform for peace?

If this meeting takes place in India, it will not only be a big step in ending the Russia-Ukraine war but will also take India's diplomatic credibility to new heights. Now all eyes are on the official confirmation from the Kremlin, which is eagerly awaited.
