Elon Musk retweeted a news related to the employees of USAID (United States Agency for International Development) and said that USAID is a criminal organization which should be abolished. In fact, USAID officials had refused to give any kind of sensitive information to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Trump administration.

After which two USAID officials have been sent on leave. DOGE is headed by Elon Musk and he is diligently engaged in reducing the government expenditure of America. Musk shared the news of the leave of two USAID officials and wrote that this is a criminal organization, which should be abolished.

What does USAID do?

USAID provides humanitarian aid to other countries affected by conflict and helps developing countries in various ways. This agency has a budget of over $50 billion and was formed in 1961.

Its closure can have a huge impact on the aid received by foreign countries. Trump has already withdrawn from WHO and has announced to cut the aid given to many countries.

The Trump administration has been targeting USAID following its sweeping changes. Last week, a three-page letter revealed that President Trump is considering merging the organization into a branch under the State Department. Several federal websites have gone down in recent days, including USAID's website.
