Pakistan has carried out an airstrike on Afghanistan, in which more than 15 people are said to have been killed. This claim has been made by the Taliban. The Taliban's Defense Ministry has strongly reacted to the airstrike carried out by Pakistan at night on Barmal, Paktika. It has said that the attack will be responded to. However, it stressed that it is its right to protect its land and sovereignty. The ministry said that 'Waziristani refugees' were targeted in the bombing. These are the same people who had reached Afghanistan from Pakistan. Children and women are among those who died.

Pakistani officials have not yet confirmed the air strike. According to media reports, sources close to the Pakistani army said that the air strikes targeted border Taliban hideouts. The Pakistani Taliban has increased its attacks on Pakistani security forces. Pakistani officials have claimed that the Afghan Taliban is not cooperating with them to stop the attacks of Pakistani terrorists.

Taliban Defence Ministry spokesman Inayatullah Khawarzami denied the claims made by Pakistani security sources. Sharing a post on Twitter, he said, "Civilians, mostly Waziristani refugees, were killed in air strikes." However, no exact number of casualties was given. Khawarzami mentioned that several children and other civilians were martyred in the attack. Many were injured as well. So far, 15 bodies, including women and children, have been recovered from under the rubble. The death toll may increase.

Why are guns drawn between Pakistan and Taliban?

The Taliban consider the Waziristani refugees to be civilians from the tribal areas who have been displaced due to military operations by the Pakistani army. However, the Pakistani government claims that dozens of TTP commanders and fighters have fled to Afghanistan and are being protected by the Afghan Taliban in border provinces. Tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan have been growing, especially over the presence of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan's southern provinces, while Pakistan has accused the Afghan Taliban of harboring TTP militants. The Taliban have rejected these claims and insist that they are not collaborating with the group.
