US Election: Neither Trump nor Kamala Harris is needed… Who are those Teamsters who raised the flag of rebellion in the US elections

There has been an interesting twist in the US presidential election. America's second-largest labor union 'Teamsters' has said that it will not support either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump in the election. This organization, officially known as the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, was founded in 1903. Its membership number is around 13 lakh.

Initially, the Teamsters was an organization representing truck drivers in the US, but gradually it established itself in many unorganized sectors. According to the data provided by the Teamsters, it represents about 10 percent of the American unions, including agriculture, law enforcement, health care, and aviation, as well as negotiating for them and going on strike when necessary.

Teamsters have decided that they will not support any of the candidates in the race for the White House, so the question arises whether this decision of such a large labor organization in America can affect the voting. Also, will it make any difference in swing states because many local bodies in these states have announced their support for Kamala Harris?

The organization's top leadership announced on Wednesday that it would not support any candidate because there is no majority among its members for Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. The organization's president Sean O'Brien has argued for the decision that none of the Republican and Democratic candidates have made any serious commitment to support workers.

But after this announcement of the organization, many local branches are supporting Kamala Harris, especially in swing states like Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania which are very important for winning the presidential election. The special thing is that this organization has supported every Democratic candidate for the White House race since Al Gore in the year 2000. Earlier, the organization had supported Republican Party candidates Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.

In 1992, the organization supported Bill Clinton and in 1996, when Clinton faced Republican Bob Dole, it abstained from voting.

This decision of the Teamsters is being considered a big setback for Kamala Harris because with this Trump can claim the support of the workers and the working class.

Paul Clark, a professor at Pennsylvania State University who is an expert on corporate labor relations, says the Teamsters' decision reflects their disappointment with Kamala Harris. However, he doesn't believe it is that important. Clark says national support can be invaluable for candidates because it brings grassroots activism and can certainly make a difference in such a tight contest.

But Kamala Harris has received support from local branches of the Teamsters as well as other major organizations. This can reduce the impact of the Teamsters' decision not to support her at the national level. Professor Paul Clark says that the support of local unions is more valuable in the long run and can have a greater impact on the election results. The support of these local unions can help Kamala Harris win the election.
