Now the Turkish government wants to earn money through this and is finding a new way to fix the continuously deteriorating economy. This new way is gastronomy tourism. Now the Turkish government will also make the tourists visiting the country discover and experience its local food.

The gastronomy tourism market in Turkey is worth around $18 billion and is expected to reach $25 billion by 2025.

Talking about gastronomy tourism, it includes information about the food culture of a country, local food items and their preparation methods. Turkey's tourism business is growing year by year and Turkey is also seen as a big name in the field of gastronomy tourism.

There are over 2,200 local foods in Turkey

Turkey is considered big in this field because it has more than 2200 local cuisines. Cities like Gaziantep, Adana, Hatay and Izmir are famous for gastronomy tourism. Initiatives are being taken to develop gastronomy tourism very rapidly in the country. According to reports, the country has 41 food, beverages and pastry courses, out of which 16 are in Istanbul.

According to a report by the Ahler Development Agency, Turkey has 34 gastronomy museums to promote local cuisine, while more than 360 gastronomy festivals are held across the country. Apart from this, Turkish food events are also organized in the US, China, Russia, Canada and Spain.

Increasing revenue from gastronomy tourism

Commenting on the development of gastronomy tourism in Turkey, Gastronomy Tourism Association President Gurkan Boztepe said that gastronomy has started to take an important place in the country's tourism strategy in recent years. Gastronomy can play a special role in Turkey's 60 million tourism revenue target. Boztepe said that the recognition of Gaziantep as a 'city of gastronomy' by UNESCO has further increased the potential for development in this sector. He said that revenue from gastronomy tourism is increasing every year and this is good for the country's economy.

Turkey's economy will get help

Turkey has been facing economic crisis for the last few years. Inflation is at its peak in Turkey, due to which the middle class of the country is facing many difficulties for their daily life. In October 2022, the inflation rate of Turkey reached 85 percent. In the official data released in July this year, the inflation rate was stated to be 61.78.

The government is taking several steps to improve this, the central bank expects that inflation will reach 43.5 percent by the end of the year and will slow down further to 25.5 percent in 2025.
