Friendship grew in the last term

During his presidency from 2017 to 2021, Trump established an unusual diplomatic relationship with Kim, not only meeting him but also saying the two had "fallen in love." However, his Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged that the effort failed to reach a lasting agreement to end North Korea's nuclear program.

North Korea has repeatedly justified its nuclear weapons tests as a means to defend against threats posed by the United States and its allies, including South Korea.

Relations with South Korea may deteriorate

America currently has deep relations with South Korea and there is deep military cooperation between the two countries. If America builds relations with North Korea, it will be difficult for it to maintain the pace of its relations with South Korea. Also, North Korea has been inclined towards Russia, so it will not be an easy task for Trump to bring Kim to his side.
