As soon as Donald Trump took oath as the 47th President of America on Monday, the process of congratulating him started. Leaders from all over the world congratulated Trump and emphasized building better bilateral relations. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a big statement about Iran as soon as Trump took the oath.

In a congratulatory message, Benjamin Netanyahu said, "Israel and America will work together to defeat Iran and end its regional influence. Addressing Trump in a video released on Monday, Netanyahu said, "I am confident that we will completely defeat Iran's 'terrorist axis' and usher in a new era of peace and prosperity for our region."

Benjamin Netanyahu recalled Trump's previous tenure and pro-Israel policy. "You ended the dangerous Iran nuclear deal, you recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and you recognized Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights." Many changes are expected in America's foreign policy after Trump returns to the White House, especially in the Middle East.

Trump on Iran

The Trump administration is expected to take a tough stance against Tehran. Trump and senior members of his team have promised a return to the so-called maximum pressure campaign on Iran. During his 2024 campaign, Trump said he wished prosperity for Iran, but insists on the long-standing Washington red line that the theocracy should not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

Former Defense Minister also mentioned Iran

Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant also mentioned Iran in his congratulations to Trump. He wrote on Twitter, “Our relationship is vital to Israel's security and prosperity – to the return of the hostages, to counter the Iranian threat, to achieve our shared goal of eliminating the 'axis of evil.'"
