South Korea has surprised everyone by banning the iPhone. This country is banning iPhones in military buildings due to security reasons. However, they can use Samsung Android devices. Korea has said that this ban is being imposed on devices that can record or be controlled from another app. This order will be implemented from June 1.

After this order, army officers or employees will not be able to go to the military building. About 5 lakh people will be affected by this decision of the country. Let us tell you, that this step has been taken due to Apple's strict privacy. This company does not meet the conditions of the Defense Mobile Security App. This app of the country blocks the device's camera, Wi-Fi, and microphone. But Apple's security does not allow this.

The big decision regarding security

According to a report by The Korea Herald, the decision to ban iPhones in the military was reportedly taken at joint meetings held by the headquarters of the Army, Navy, and Air Force in Gyeryongdae, South Chungcheong Province. The country's iPhone ban within the military appears to be less about security concerns and more about the limitations of mobile device management (MDM) suites.

This decision of South Korea has also been taken due to nationalistic motives and giving preference to domestic brands compared to the North. Interestingly, while iPhones are explicitly banned, Android-based devices manufactured by Samsung are exempted from the ban.

Ban on Apple Watch also

Apart from iPhones, the ban is said to also apply to wearable devices like Apple Watch. The logic behind giving priority to home appliances over the iPhone is not yet clear. In addition, there are also questions about the effectiveness of the South Korean National Defense Mobile Security MDM app in preventing microphone use, leading to increasing complaints from users.
