The Pakistan government has reduced the pension of the soldiers and officers who were made to serve for their entire lives.
The condition of poverty in Pakistan is such that it is now going to reduce the pension of its soldiers and officers. To control the increase in the pension bill, the Pak government is going to cut the pension of retired civil and military personnel. For this, the Pak government has brought a pension reform bill, under which many changes will be made in the pension process.
Under this bill, instead of the pension being decided on the basis of the last salary, it will be decided on the average of the last two years' salary. Apart from this, the increase in pension every year has also been abolished. This bill will also affect those employees who receive both salary and pension.

This new bill has been brought to reduce the government's pension expenses, which increased by 24 percent this year. The report says that the government's pension expenditure has exceeded Rs 1 trillion. According to the Express Tribune report, the Finance Ministry on Wednesday issued three separate notices to stop multiple pensions, which include reducing the first-time home pension and also reducing the basis for determining future increases in pension.
The government will benefit from the new bill
The government's pension budget for the financial year is Rs 1.014 trillion, of which 66 per cent (Rs 662 billion) has been allocated for military pensions. The pension bill has increased by 24 per cent compared to last year. In the long run, the government is hoping that these changes will reduce the pension burden.
Who will come under the new pension scheme?
The new pension system in Pakistan will replace the traditional pension scheme for new civil and military employees appointed after July 1, 2024 and 2025.
