Terror against Hindus continues in Bangladesh, three temples were vandalized in Chattogram.

Three Hindu temples were vandalized by a slogan-shouting mob in Bangladesh's Chattogram on Friday. Protests are continuing in Chattogram after a sedition case was filed against a former ISKCON member. The attack took place at around 2:30 pm in the port city's Harish Chandra Munsef Lane and targeted Shantaneshwari Matri Mandir, Shani Mandir, and Shantaneshwari Kalibari Mandir.

Media reports quoted temple officials as saying that a mob of hundreds of slogan-shouting people threw bricks and stones at the temples, damaging the doors of the Shani Mandir and two other temples. Kotwali police station chief Abdul Karim confirmed the attack and said that the attackers tried to damage the temples. Police said that there was very little damage to the temples.

Bangladesh should protect all minorities.

Expressing serious concern over the increasing incidents of violent rhetoric and violence in Bangladesh, India on Friday said that the interim government should fulfill its responsibility to protect all minorities. India also expressed hope that the case related to Hindu leader Chinmay Krishna Das, arrested on charges of sedition in Bangladesh, will be dealt with in a just, fair, and transparent manner.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told Parliament that India takes serious note of incidents of violence against minorities in Bangladesh and that it is Bangladesh's primary responsibility to protect the life and liberty of all citizens, including minorities.

Tension in relations between India and Bangladesh

Relations between India and Bangladesh have been strained since the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus came to power after Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister amid political turmoil in Bangladesh in August. India has been expressing concern over attacks on minorities, especially Hindus, in that country. Jaishankar said that the primary responsibility of protecting the life and liberty of all citizens of Bangladesh, including minorities, lies with the Bangladesh government. He said that the Indian High Commission in Dhaka is closely monitoring the situation related to minorities in Bangladesh.

Call to protect minorities.

The Ministry of External Affairs called upon Bangladesh to take all steps to protect minorities and expressed hope that the case related to the arrested Chinmay Krishna Das will be dealt with in a just, fair, and transparent manner. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India has consistently and strongly raised the issue of threats and targeted attacks against Hindus and other minorities with the Government of Bangladesh.
