Taliban issues another order for women, now windows are banned
The Taliban has issued another anti-women order. The supreme leader of the Taliban has ordered a ban on installing windows in residential buildings. This order has been issued for those windows from where women can be seen, and the existing windows have also been asked to be closed.
Government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid posted the supreme leader's decree, which says "looking at women working in the kitchen, courtyard or collecting water from wells may constitute obscene acts." The decree states that municipal officials and other relevant departments must monitor construction sites to ensure that it is not possible to look into neighbors' homes.
Women are being kept away from public places
The new decree gives clear instructions that if there are windows in the houses from where the neighbors can see the women, then they should be asked to build a wall to eliminate such windows or obstruct the view. Since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021, women have been gradually removed from public places, which has been condemned by many Western countries including the United Nations.
Increasing restrictions on women
The Taliban have already banned post-primary education for girls and women, restricted employment, and banned women from parks and other public spaces. The Taliban government has also banned women from singing or reciting poetry in public, enforcing an extremely strict application of Islamic law. Some local radio and television stations have also stopped broadcasting women's voices.
