As rebel groups are increasing their hold on Syria, supporters of Bashar al-Assad have started fleeing the battlefield. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham fighters along with other groups are taking control of the main cities of Syria. First capturing Aleppo, Hama and now Darra, the rebels are moving towards Homs.

Bashar al-Assad's control over the country seems to be gradually waning, now there are reports that his family members have fled to Russia. Also, the whereabouts of the President are unknown. Now Russia is also not ready to come forward to defend Assad, because Putin is reportedly upset with the Syrian soldiers fleeing.

Assad's family fled from Syria!

Citing Syrian security and Arab officials, the Wall Street Journal reported that Assad's family members who have fled to Russia include his wife, children, and two brothers-in-law. According to the newspaper, the Syrian president's British-born wife fled to Russia with her three children last week, while his siblings have moved to the United Arab Emirates. It is still not known whether Assad is in Syria or not.

Russia is not ready to help Bashar al-Assad!

Bloomberg News quoted a source close to the Kremlin as saying that Moscow has no plans to rescue the Syrian president. "Russia has no plans to rescue Assad and does not see any plans as long as the Syrian president's forces continue to abandon their posts," the source said. Vladimir Putin is reportedly unhappy with the Syrian troops retreating from their posts.

Rebels near Damascus

The rebels are rapidly advancing towards the capital Damascus, they have taken control of the important city of Darra which lies on the way to Damascus. Darra is the city from where the rebellion started in 2011, currently, the fighters are fighting to capture the city of Homs, which is considered to be the stronghold of Russia
