Syria: Former President Bashar al-Assad's brother arrested, what is the reason?

After the coup in Syria, the brother of former President Bashar al-Assad has been arrested. Bashar al-Assad fled the country with his family after the coup. At the same time, Islamic rebels Hayat Tahrir al-Sham have now taken over power in the country. HTS Chief Al-Shara is ruling Syria. Meanwhile, Syrian authorities have arrested the former president's brother (cousin) Atef Najib.
Syrian authorities have arrested a former senior security official and cousin of ex-President Bashar al-Assad, Syrian media (SANA) said.
why was he arrested
On one hand, the President of Syria is absconding from the country. On the other hand, his cousin has not been arrested just because he is the brother of the former President. Rather, his arrest has a connection with the movement that broke out in the city of Dara in the country in the year 2011.
Syria's HTS regime holds Atef Najib responsible for instigating protests in the southern city of Daraa. Due to this, he has been arrested. State media SANA said that Brigadier General and former head of the political security department in Daraa, Atef Najib, was arrested by security forces in the country's western Latakia province on Friday.
Syria's new regime has launched a security crackdown in several areas aimed at detaining figures from the former government, arresting dozens of people so far, mostly low-level officials or fighters.
What happened in 2011?
HTS leader Ahmed al-Shara has been appointed the country's president. Since coming to power, he has promised to arrest members of the former government accused of crimes in previous governments. Due to this, he has taken action against Atef. SANA quoted Mustafa Kanaifati, head of General Security in Latakia, as saying, "This step has been taken to hold accountable those involved in violations against the Syrian people and to enhance security and stability in the region. SANA reported that after the arrest, Najib has been handed over to the relevant authorities to face trial.
In 2011, when Najib was the security chief in Daraa city, some boys from Syria raised their voice against the government and put up posters on the walls against the government. After this, security chief Najib arrested all the boys and allegedly tortured them. After this, a movement for the release of the boys started in Daraa city. Along with this, the US imposed sanctions on Najib in 2011 for his alleged connection with human rights violations in Syria.
