There has been a big news of relief from President Putin regarding the Russia-Ukraine war. According to a Reuters report, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he is ready to compromise on Ukraine in a possible dialogue with the newly elected US President Donald Trump to end the war. The big thing is that he has no conditions for starting a dialogue with the Ukrainian authorities.

Putin said Russia was ready to negotiate a peaceful solution to the conflict but reiterated his demand that Ukraine should give up its desire to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Ukraine and Western countries, however, have rejected these demands.

The art of political compromise

Putin said that he is ready for possible talks with the newly elected US President Donald Trump, who has expressed his commitment to negotiate an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine. He said that if we meet Trump, we will have issues to discuss. Putin said that Russia is ready for compromise in possible peace talks on Ukraine. He said politics is the art of compromise. We have always said that we are ready for both talks and agreement. Also, Putin said that the talks should be based on the ground situation.

Russia strengthened by military operation

Putin claimed his military campaign in Ukraine had strengthened Russia during his annual press conference and call-in show on Thursday, and denied that Moscow's prestige had been hurt by the ouster of key ally Bashar al-Assad in Syria, an event he has used to maintain a sense of dominance and demonstrate his broad control over the country's political landscape. The event lasted about four and a half hours.

Increased military and economic power

He claimed that sending troops to Ukraine in 2022 has increased Russia's military and economic strength. He also said that he feels such a decision should have been taken earlier and Russia should have prepared more thoroughly for it in advance. Putin said that Russia has become much stronger in the last two or three years as it has truly become a sovereign country. He said, we are standing strong in terms of economy, we are strengthening our defense capability and our military capability is now the strongest in the world.

He talked about the country's rapid progress on the economic front and praised the success of his troops in Ukraine. Putin also said that the army is moving fast towards achieving its goals. He said that the situation is changing rapidly, we are moving forward on the front line.

Responding to a question about a new hypersonic medium-range ballistic missile used by Russia for the first time to attack Ukraine last month, Putin ridiculed claims by some Western experts that it could be intercepted by North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) air defences.

Use of long-range weapons

Putin said Moscow used the Oreshnik missile in response to Western countries allowing Ukraine to use its long-range weapons to attack Russia. He warned that Russia could launch more attacks on Ukraine with this missile. He said that this missile could also be used to target military complexes of countries that have allowed Ukraine to use their missiles to attack Russia.

Missing in Syria 12 years ago

Putin said he would ask ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad about the status of an American journalist who went missing in Syria 12 years ago. Putin said he has not yet met Assad, who has been granted asylum in Moscow, but plans to meet him and ask him about American journalist Austin Tice.
