The interim government of Bangladesh has demanded the extradition of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from India. Meanwhile, the reaction of Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed has come to the fore. He said that judges and prosecutors appointed by the unelected Yunus-led government conducted a ridiculous trial process through the International Crimes Tribunal. Wazed has termed it a political stunt. He has alleged that this is a symbol of another attack by the Yunus government to harass the Awami League leadership.

He said kangaroo tribunals and subsequent requests for extradition come at a time when hundreds of leaders and activists have been extrajudicially killed, outrageous murder charges are laid, thousands are illegally imprisoned by law enforcement, and violent attacks, including looting, vandalism, and arson, are being committed every day, all under the regime’s very eyes.

'The prosecutor changed his statements'

Sajeeb Wazed further said that on December 22, Yunus regime-appointed Chief Prosecutor of the ICT Tribunal Tajul Islam, despite having a proven record of defending war criminals, allegedly launched a deliberate misinformation campaign against party president Sheikh Hasina as he claimed that Interpol had issued a red notice against her, which was a desperate attempt to extradite her and stage a farcical trial to serve Dr Yunus' interests. Later, the same prosecutor changed his statement after media exposure and has now officially sent an extradition request to India.

I don't trust Bangladesh's justice system- Wazed.

He said, 'We reiterate our position that every incident of human rights violation between July and August should be investigated independently and impartially, but the Yunus-led government has weaponized the judiciary and we have no confidence in the justice system.'
