Pannu murder conspiracy case: How was accused Nikhil Gupta sent to US by Czech Republic? Video released

Gurpatwant Pannun Murder Plot: Nikhil Gupta was detained at Prague airport on June 30, 2023 under extradition orders issued by the US Department of Justice. After extradition to the US, Nikhil Gupta was produced in a federal court in New York.

The Czech Republic Police has released a video regarding Nikhil Gupta, accused of conspiring to murder Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, in which it has shown how Nikhil Gupta has been extradited from the Czech Republic to the US. Earlier, Czech Republic Justice Minister Pavel Blazek confirmed that Nikhil Gupta has been extradited to the US.

Sharing a video on social media platform X, the Czech Republic Police wrote, 'The foreigner suspected of plotting murder in the United States has been in the hands of the US judiciary since Friday.' It was further said that Nikhil Gupta was safely extradited from Prague (capital of Czech Republic) airport.

US formed high level committee for investigation

Czech Republic Justice Minister Pavel Blazek said in a post on X that based on my decision on June 3, Indian citizen Nikhil Gupta, accused of plotting murder, was extradited to the US on Friday, June 14, for criminal prosecution. Nikhil Gupta was detained at Prague Airport on June 30, 2023 under extradition orders issued by the US Department of Justice. The US State Department has said that it has formed a high level investigation committee to investigate the matter.

The Czech Constitutional Court approved the extradition of Nikhil Gupta in May. He has pleaded innocent in the US court. He was arrested in the Czech Republic last year on the request of the US government for being involved in a conspiracy to murder Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in New York. Gurpatwant Pannu holds both American and Canadian citizenship.

What did the US accuse?

After being extradited to the US, Nikhil Gupta was produced in a federal court in New York. His lawyer Jeffrey Chabrove says that Nikhil Gupta has pleaded innocent in the court. US federal prosecutors allege that Gupta was working as per the instructions of an unknown Indian government official. However, India has clearly denied its involvement in such a case.
