Pakistan: A person crossed the LoC and reached India, his family appealed for his return, saying he was mentally deranged

A Pakistani citizen has been caught near the India-Pakistan border. The family of the detained person on Sunday urged the authorities to send him back. They say that he is mentally deranged. Therefore, he unknowingly crossed the Line of Control and came to India. The family members have also urged the Pakistani authorities for his safe return.

According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the name of the mentally deranged person detained in India is Yasir Faiz. He is a resident of Tetrinot village in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK). He was detained by Indian police from Salotri border village at around 11.30 pm on Saturday night. According to the family, Faiz had fled from the hospital fearing the doctor.

Dawn quoted family members as saying that Faiz was taken to a hospital in Rawalkot for mental treatment on Saturday. As the doctor was preparing to give him an injection, he panicked and fled from the hospital. The family learned late in the evening that he had crossed the Line of Control. They say that Faiz thought the doctor was going to harm him.

"Faiz thought the doctor was going to harm him. He fled the hospital, boarded public transport to Hazira and later hired a motorcycle to get around the LoC," family members told Dawn. "He has been suffering from severe depression for quite some time and took this step out of ignorance," his father Muhammad Faiz Akbar said.

Meanwhile, Faiz's father on Sunday urged the authorities to send him back. He said, 'We urge the Indian authorities to ensure that no harm comes to him.' He also urged the Pakistani authorities to coordinate with their Indian counterparts for Faiz's safe return.
